I met a perfect soul today who is studying the art of silence. He had many ideas and many teachings in his head. He had many spiritual wishes and desires. He is a great student and a great teacher. He was not a master. He has almost completed his masters degree. But he is not a master. Even after getting his degree he will not become a master. He was very humble. He was very kind. He was very open minded. But he was not free. In a way very close to freedom. In a way very far from freedom. His last step to freedom would be to let go of all the knowledge and teachings of how to become free and of what it means to be free. Often the last step is the most difficult. Often the last step is the most easy. He was born in Tibet in 1972. His family is Tibetan. He grew up in a Tibetan community in Switzerland. He studied for seventeen years with spiritual scholars in India of the Tibetan tradition. He is a Tibetan Buddhist Scholar of the highest calibre. A teacher of many. A monk and an inspiration to his community. His masters degree is in cross cultural religions and their common truths. I sang him a song. It’s a song and mantra that I wrote in New Zealand. It’s called Shambhala. He asked me to define Shambhala. I told him ~ Shambhala is freedom. Shambhala is freedom community. Shambhala is not of this world. Shambhala is something like a mystic, esoteric mystery school. He agreed. We laughed a lot. We joked a lot. We talked a lot. We ate. We drank. We love. We hugged. And then we said good bye. Namaste Shambhala
